I am so proud to be able to share with permission this wonderful photo of E in his innowalk.
E is casually using the stylus in his left hand to chat on his communication device, assisted by his communication partner who is very much being led by him and giving him the time to say what he wants to say.
Though E is relaxed and smiling, the image really belies the amount of hard work and perseverance it takes to enable young people like E to be able to access equipment like this.
Therapy journeys to this point may include collaboration between client, parents, support staff, physios, OTs, SALT, orthotists, orthopaedic surgeons, neurologists …. the list could go on and on. It is not an easy journey, the young person will have undergone lots of procedures, have lots of setbacks, and had to be very patient and trusting in the professionals working with them.
On the day the photo was taken it had taken a lot of “prep work” to get E into his Innowalk, but there he is happily playing a game of Guess Who on his talker, being a star.
